Retrofit and motorise your existing roller blinds with battery powered blind motors by DIY
If you want to retrofit and motorise your existing roller blinds to motorised blinds with blind motors, then you come to the right place. iSmart Window has many years of experience in retrofitting roller blinds to motorised ones, we retrofitted and installed for many customers in Auckland and supplied the retrofitting DIY Kits for customers outside of Auckland in New Zealand.

Before you retrofit and motorise your existing roller blinds, there are several factors that you have to look at first:

1, The sizes of your existing roller blinds might affect your blind motors choice, you first need to check if your blinds widths are smaller than the lengths of the blind motors themselves, and if the weights of the blinds are too heavyweight and the rated torque of the blind motors are not powerful enough.

2, As you know, motorised roller blinds use the blind motors as drive force, You need to check if you can get the correct drive wheel adaptors and crown for your existing roller blinds, to do so, you need to remove the roller blind from your brackets and remove either the idler end or chain control unit ( side winder ), measure inside diameter and outside diameter of the blind tube, check or take photos of the interior profile layout of aluminium tube. Please note: some blind manufacturers may use different blind tubes for different sizes of roller blinds, in this case, you need to check both the smallest and largest roller blinds, to see if they are different. If you are still not sure about that, we are here to help, you can email us and send us the photos and your measurements of ID and OD of the tube.

3, Different blind manufacturers may use different kinds of brackets to mount the roller blinds, the idler end bracket doesn't matter, you need to check the bracket for the chain control unit ( sidewinder ) to see if it can be fitted into the slot of the limit head of the blind motor, sometimes the limit head adaptor might be needed.

4, For very small and narrow blinds, you might need our iSW25CE/L 12V DC blind motors, in this case, you might need our DC1276 12V Rechargeable Battery Wand as well. For very high position roller blinds, you might need our DC1288H indoor solar charge panel to charge the Li-ion rechargeable powered motors.

5, If you need the motorised roller blinds to be smart blinds, then you will need some Hub, we have DD7002B wifi bridge, DD7006 P Box and DD1554 mini bridge which can let you use the App to control the blinds, compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Samsung SmartThings, or even compatible with some 3rd party Home Automation systems such as Control 4, Elan, Crestron Etc.

After considering all of the factors above, we can decide the motorised retrofitting kits now, and next step of installation would be pretty easy. You just need to pull out the chain control unit ( sidewinder ), insert the tubular motor into the tube and click the blind back to your existing brackets, then program the motor, all done.
